About me
As the Assistant Chief of the Office of Law Enforcement Services Gang Unit, I lead a team of Specialists tasked with gang management within the Virginia Department of Corrections. My commitment to gang management has spanned my entire 23-year career. During this time, I've attended hundreds of hours of gang training and received several professional accolades, including certification from the Federal Bureau of Investigations as a Cryptanalyst in 2009, Corrections Gang Investigator of the Year from the Virginia Gang Investigators Association in 2018 and qualified as a Gang Expert Witness in numerous jurisdictions across the Commonwealth, as recent as February 2026, right here in Norfolk, VA. While acknowledging the positive impact of formal training, certifications and professional accolades, it is the daily gang management efforts, cultural fluency, and active engagement with a diverse population of gang members that allows me to provide authentic and engaging training for everyone. The use of coded communication is prevalent among those we are tasked with managing, and I look forward to fulfilling your interest on this topic and hopefully equipping you with a new skillset. Come hang out and let's have some fun.
